The US Supreme Court heard arguments relating to whent he statute of limitations begins to run for wrongful arrest cases. The case, out of Illinois, involved a man arrested and convincted in 1994 and cleared of the charges in 2002 , with his arrest being declared illegal.

In 2003, he filed a federal civil rights action for this wrongful arrest which was thrown out.

The issue becomes when does the clock start ticking? At the time of arrest, as the State argued, or when the arrest was nullified, as the Plaintiff argued.

Expect a decision in a few months ….
